The right diet for fighting off the risks of cervical cancer

Cervical cancer is of the most widespread cancers in women. Rapid and uncontrollable growth of cells on the cervix is the cause of the cervical cancer. The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is the cause of most cervical cancers. Experts believe that having an appropriate diet can help combat against the HPV and stop the HPV from spreading the cancer.

According to a study featured in the Cancer Research Journal, women who had a diet rich in fruits and veggies got rid of HPV infection earlier than the women did. Certain components of the fruits and vegetables like folate, flavonoids, carotenoids inhibit the HPV infection. An expert form the American Dietetic Association says that a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and beans is beneficial in fighting against cancer.

Foods Rich in Folate

The occurrence of cervical cancer in the people infected with HPV is minimized when food rich in folates is included in the diet. The risk of cervical cancer is reduced, as the food rich in folates do not allow the HPV from re-surfacing. A few folate rich foods are chickpeas, lentils, avocados, strawberries and lettuce.

Flavonoid Rich Foods

Apples, Broccoli, cranberries, lettuce are some foods that contain a good amount of flavonoids. Flavonoids are ranked quite high amongst the foods that prevent cancer. Some other rich sources of flavonoids are asparagus, black beans, Brussels sprouts, garlic, onions, spinach and cabbage.

Carotenoids Rich Foods

Cervical cancer can be prevented by the intake of carotenoid rich food, as they have a high source of vitamin A. Carrots are one of the richest sources of carotenoids, also pumpkins, sweet potatoes and winter squash should be included in the diet.

Kaempferol is a type of flavonoid known for its potent antioxidant effects. This substance is found in tea and has scientifically shown to fight against cancer. A research at the Harvard school of public health postulated that the women who consumed kaempferol in a decent quantity had the minimum risk of getting ovarian cancer. The easiest way to boost your immunity against cancer is by having tea, even ice-test has the same benefits.

Along with the diet that would help in fighting against cervical cancer, Human Papillomavirus vaccination is also important. Smoking is the root of all evil, quit smoking for a better health. Studies have shown that a planned diet can work wonders along with proper medication and care in any type of cancer.
