The West Berkshire Sexual Health Promotion team is ready to start an awareness program i.e. sexually transmitted infection awareness program. The program has planned to start because of syphillis outbreaks in the UK.
The local Health Protection Team of the Health Protection Agency (HPA) is working to manage the outbreak as soon as possible. With the help of the promotion team the HPA will try to aware the people about the cause and prevention of this disease.
Syphillis can be transmitted through close contact with another infected people. If the patient remains as untreated, the disease can cause mental sickness, loss of sight, heart disease or death. The disease can be treated by antibiotics in any of the its stages of development.
