Simple tips to take care of your skin in the monsoon months

well hydrated

Summer is probably the most dreaded time of the year because of its capacity in damaging skin but do not consider the monsoons meek and mild. Monsoon months also damage our skin. The high levels of humidity in the air make the facial skin vulnerable to acne breakouts. Exposure to pollution, grime and dirt in these months can make your skin irritable, flaky and full of blemishes.

With changing weather conditions, you will have to alter your skin care regime. You must take good care of your skin during the monsoon months. Plan your monsoon skin care regime according to your skin type. First, find out if you have dry, oily or a combination skin. The best time to find this out would be just after waking in the morning.

If you have an oily skin, it means that your sebum glands are very active. Generally, the skin looks oilier during the summer months but it can also look dull and dirty during the monsoon months when the humidity in the air is very high. If your skin is oily then you need to be extremely cautious about your skin care routine or else you may get lots of blemishes and pimples.

The main reason of pimples is dirt, and grime that mixes with the oil and fosters bacteria. Your duty is to keep your skin clean at all times. Wash your face with foam based facial that removes both dirt and oil at least thrice a day. Use a sunscreen with SPF 30 and a water based moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated. Waterproof makeup lasts long in the rainy season. Drink lots of water to keep your inner organs hydrated.

Dry skin can become irritable and itchy during the rainy season. To avoid extra dryness and flaky skin you will have to use a cream based cleanser twice or thrice a day. Also, select a good quality skin nourishing lotion. Alcohol free toners are good for dry skin. People who have a combination skin should scrub their faces with a gentle scrubber twice every week. Clean your face with non-soap cleansers that remove excess oil and hydrate the dry areas of the skin.

Summary:

Maintain a suitable skin care routine during the monsoon months. Select your skin care regime according to your skin type. Cleansing, toning and moisturizing along with a nutritious diet can keep your skin glowing even in the rainy season.
