Skin cancers, like melanomas, are strongly linked to sun damage. It arises on exposed areas of the skin. But melanomas can show up in covered parts of the body as well. It can be on the soles or the palms or between the toes and even on the scalp.
So just have a good self-test including these areas once in a year. Some unusual hidden melanomas can be found underneath nails, on mucous membranes lining, on the eyelids. So make sure you give regular visits to dental, eye, gynecological specialists.
