Orange juice, generally, did not link with food borne disease earlier. However, in the 106th General Meeting of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) in Orlando, it was said that public health officials should be aware about bad effects of orange juice too.
A number of disease outbreaks of salmonellosis since mid 90s, have been linked with the consumption of orange juice. It happened because a larger amount of orange juice consumed which did not follow the sanitary regulations. Poor detection methods made the case worse for the consumption of orange juice even more frequent carrier of salmonellosis. All outbreaks have been associated with unpasteurized orange juice. The public health system should be more concern in to this matter.
