No tobacco sale to under 18s in Scotland

Scotland is finally ready to ban the sale of cigarette to youth aged under 18. The expert group is set to look at the problems of youth smoking. It is likely to advise to raise the permissible age for buying tobacco products to 18.

People can’t buy alcohol until 18 in Scotland, but the age of buying cigarettes is 16 only. And according to the health experts it is sending incorrect message. A study shows that 6 per cent of 13-year-olds were regular smokers in Scotland. And 20 per cent of 15-year-olds smoke habitually. 86 per cent of them were agree that they go to the shops to get it.
