Midwife shortage, poor training lead to 1,000 unborn baby-deaths each year! Study

more sound midwife training needed

For pregnant ladies, especially those with low-risk, and least complications, midwives offer an excellent alternative. In Europe, midwives help at more than 70 percent of normal vaginal births. This trend of midwives-delivery has been increasing since 1975.

But, did you ever pause to find out if a midwife is a viable option for you? And, how are they trained?

If you have not as yet, this is perhaps the right time with the nerve-wrecking figures of as many as 1,000 unborn babies found to be dying each year because of the midwives! This is found recently by a study.

Be it for their being overstretched or too poorly trained to spot danger signs, this gruesome ‘fetus death’ figure cannot be neglected!

Unfortunately, Britain records the worst in stillbirth-percentage, especially in Western Europe. Here, the rate is double than that of Italy, Sweden and Switzerland.

Thank God! The choices of pregnant women living in the United States still have traditionally been limited to an obstetrician or a knowledgeable family doctor.

With the soaring stillborn percentage in the UK, it is high time the medical staff take action during pregnancy.

Hope, this would eventually save a quarter of the 4,000 stillbirths that take place in the UK annually.
