Men with breast cancer are more likely to have second cancer

Men with breast cancer are more likely to have second cancer among which susceptibility to breast, stomach and skin cancer is comparatively higher. Moreover, the earlier man develops cancer, the higher his risk of clinging to second cancer.

Researchers studied cancer statistics from 1988 to 2003 and found that of the 1,926 diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time, 11.5 percent were diagnosed with a second new cancer. Vindicating the fact that men with breast cancer are more susceptible to second cancer Satram-Hoang and colleagues write:

Our study shows that men diagnosed with a first primary breast cancer have a 16 percent increased risk of developing a new primary cancer in comparison with men in the general population.

This study is no doubt, quite significant but we cannot deny the fact that it has failed to answer that whether this association is applicable only for men and not for women. Secondly, it has also not been able to divulge a concrete reason to vindicate this equation. Still, we can say that this study gives out an important message according to which men who have undergone treatment for breast cancer should keep on visiting doctors on regular basis so that the nightmare of deadly cancer could be prevented from intruding their lives once again.
