Juice Fasting and healthy food, the best cure for Psoriasis

Having just juice

Psoriasis, a chronic skin disease, causes inflammation of skin and patches of thick and red scales. These patches are sometimes referred to as plaques and are usually itchy or give the feeling of soreness. They most often occur on the elbows, knees, other parts of the legs, scalp, lower back, face, palms, and soles of the feet, but can also occur on other parts of the body. It appears about equally in males and females. It is a skin disorder driven by the immune system.

Rely on a good diet:

The condition is not contagious so it does not spread from person to another. Since psoriasis is a metabolic disease, a cleansing juice fast for about two weeks is always desirable in the beginning of treatment. Carrots, beets, cucumbers and grapes may be used for juices. Juices of citrus fruits should be avoided.

After the juice fast, the patient should adopt the diet of three basic food groups, namely seeds, nuts and grains, vegetables and fruits, with emphasis on raw seeds and nuts especially sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and plenty of organically grown raw vegetables and fruits.

After noticeable improvement, goat’s milk, yogurt and homemade cottage cheese may be added to the diet. Refined or processed foods and foods containing hydro generated fats or white sugar, tea, coffee, alcohol and tobacco should also be avoided. Remember what your mother tells you, if it tastes bad then it is probably good for your health.

People with poor diet will likely have much worse psoriasis. Any results from a diet are probably due to increased general health, and the removal of unhealthy foods – not the inclusion of magical foods. Do not just rely on drugs, because if there were a drug that cured psoriasis, every drug company in the world would manufacture and sell that drug.

In many cases, psoriasis responds well to sunlight. The affected parts should be frequently exposed to the sun. The patient should undertake plenty of regular exercise in fresh air, especially exposing the affected parts and should perform several deep breathing exercises. Additionally, patients suffering from this disease should avoid stress and tension, while ensuring adequate rest.

Summary

Maintaining a good diet, or developing a better lifestyle is a good way of treating any disease and it also applies for psoriasis patients as well. In order to make sure that the diet being followed is good for your condition, it would be best to consult both your dietician and the dermatologist, so that you don’t have to battle side effects.
