Is smoking your addiction.. or what?

smoking addiction
Campaigns aimed at treating those with cocaine, smack or Dope addiction often seem to be giving step motherly treatment to those with smoking addiction. However, a faction of experts has dished out the idea whereby smokers should also be treated the way other addicts are treated.

Obviously, a good move it is, especially when smokers’ rate is declining at a snail-speed. And the gravity of the problem comes fully undraped when following facts creep out:

Half of all smokers will die prematurely if they do not give up smoking with 150 million of them bound to die just in the next 20 years.

Around one hundred million smokers died in the last century

And one billion are projected to die in the 21st century

Amid such facts and suppositions, experts’ this view sounds quite sane that smokers should be encouraged to pick up its (smoking’s) substitutes, which are comparatively less harmful. And it is quite welcoming that anti-smoking pressure groups like Ash have also backed up any such move. According to Ash:

…to allow safer nicotine products to be made available while ever stricter measures are applied to tobacco products to deter their use.

Still, it won’t be wrong to say that final aim should be – the complete annihilation of all such addictions, no matter it is smoking or it’s substitutes, supposed to be less harmful, as considering them (substitutes) free from all sorts of harms won’t be right. Reason? Here it is:

Snuff is even more risky than previously thought

Snus causes cancer
