India develops vaccine for bird flu

Agriculture Minister of India Sharad Pawar has announced that the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has developed a bird flu vaccine. He was delivering speech at the 77th annual general meeting of the ICAR Society on Sunday.

The High Security Animal Disease Laboratory, Bhopal has developed the vaccine. ICAR provided Rs. 8 crore for the purpose.

According to Mangala Rai, Director General ICAR, viral diseases do not recognize boundaries. Since the disease has recurring possibility, another research will focus to develop another vaccine to restrict the recurring possibilities.
