Ideal Protein Diet

Cardiac Diet

There are many diets out there based on high protein intake with the sole purpose of losing weight. The most appreciated eating plan based on proteins is called the Ideal protein diet.

The diet itself is based on 4 main stages that can help you change your eating patterns. We won’t deny that this is a strict diet, but it will surely make you lose that extra weight you struggle with.

Why is the Ideal protein diet so ideal ?

An ideal diet would be for most women a program that helps you lose weight fast, gives a nice muscle tone with no exercise and gets rid off cellulite. Luckily the Ideal protein diet meets all these requirements.

The Ideal protein diet is so popular because it transforms fat in
energy. By cutting out carbs the sugar blood level is stable during the
day and you will avoid those nasty cravings.

What to eat during the Ideal protein diet ?

Phase 1 – Induction

During this phase you will reach 80% of the weight loss goal. While on this stage you can eat three protein products, four cups of selected vegetables, unlimited lettuce and 5-7 oz of lean animal protein.

Phase 2

In phase 2 you can replace lunch or dinner with 150-200g of poultry or fish. You must remain on this stage until you reach the initial weight loss goal.

Phase 3

Phase 3 is a level in which you are allowed to gradually add grains to your breakfast, plus a diary product every two days.

Phase 4

The last stage of this diet is based on the maintenance of your weigh. You must slowly add cooked meals to your diet, but not abuse them. A salad is much more healthier.

Downsides

The weight loss is caused mainly by the depletion of glycogen – a glucose that is stored in muscles and liver. Glycogen helps muscles contract properly. So in the lack of glycogen you won’t be able to do any intense exercise. Fatigue is another side effect of this low carbs diet.

This argument contradicts the fact that the Ideal protein diet increases muscle tone.  Due to the extreme state of fatigue you won’t be able to work on your muscle groups, although in a normal situation proteins would help define your body.

The state of ketosis is another danger you should be careful about. This state appears when the body is desperately looking for an energy fuel usually provided by fats. Because of the low intake in fat the ketosis state will induce nausea, dehydration, headaches, bad breath, irritability and kidney problems.

The supporters of the Ideal protein diet do not take into account these risks, but we advise you not to focus only on the rapid weight loss.

Maybe eating healthy is not as popular a dieting, but remember that you want to be both fit and healthy. No nutritionist will ever tell you that there’s a magic bullet that makes fat disappear in just a few days. Regular exercise and healthy food in small portions are the key to long-term health. But the path to being fit is left at your own free choice.
