Eat small meals

Reactive Hypoglycemia is a condition when blood sugar drops significantly 2 – 3 hours after every meal is consumed. It leads to shaking, nausea and nervousness. The good news is that all these symptoms can be eliminated with the changes in your diet. The major change is to avoid consuming high carb foods and eating regular meals.

Dieticians have designed a specific diet to cater the needs of hypoglycemia patients which is known as Hypoglycemia Diet.

Patients are advised to eat foods that are high in fiber content such as raspberries, peas, beans, pears and whole wheat products. Patients should focus on consuming foods that are low in glycemic index. It helps your body in delivering adequate amount of glucose from time to time which prevents your body to have low blood sugar levels.

Ignore all the foods that are concentrated with high levels of fructose. An individual must eat regular meals when following this diet. In fact, a dieter is supposed to have a meal after every 3 hours. Have frequent meals in low quantity.

Don’t eat any foods that are low in fiber and rich in carbs such as cakes. Potato chips, caffeine products and soda are rich in fructose so avoid these items. You must not eat at a restaurant if you are not sugar that the meals offered contain no sugar at all. Ice creams, soft drinks, cookie and snacks contain significant amount of fructose so make sure you read the label on these products before you purchase them.

You must avoid eating sushi, flavored vinegars, peanuts and baked beans. It is important to have little intake of carbohydrates. For this purpose, you can snack on complex carbs in low quantity rather than simple carbs. Some of the foods to include are beans, peanut butter, almonds, strawberries, blueberries, eggs, bacon, beef, chicken, fish, cheese and spinach.
