Hypertension with Alzheimer: Is it time to worry?

hypertension
Alzheimer paves the way for enervated neurological health. We all know this. However, if the problem of hypertension or high blood pressure is also there, then sorry to say the process of neurological decline might pick up the pace.

This claim by a new study comes after it found that high blood pressure clogs up the normal blood flow to the brain, adding to the severity of Alzheimer.

In the words of study co-author Cyrus Raji:

While hypertension is not a cause of Alzheimer’s disease, our study shows that it is another hit on the brain that increases its vulnerability to the effects of the disease.

In this study, MRI images were taken of the brains of:-

* 48 older adults — 38 with hypertension and 10 without.

* 20 Alzheimer’s patients — 10 with hypertension and 10 without.

* 20 adults with mild cognitive impairment (the first stage of dementia) — 10 with hypertension and 10 without.

Finally, it was concluded that in patients with Alzheimer, high blood pressure reduced the flow of blood to the brain, making the situation from bad to worse.

Well, it was about the latest study but for a while, concentrating the focus on high blood pressure would provide enough evidences to prove that due to hypertension alone, every year many people fall a prey to deadly and paralyzing diseases, like heart attack, kidney damage, etc. and sometimes blindness, even. Therefore, blood pressure is a serious threat not only to those with Alzheimer, but also to those with no other disease except hypertension. Therefore, global attention aimed at curbing the influx of hypertension into our lives could make a difference. Because where it will be a good sign for Alzheimer patients, it will also ensure preclusion of several other dieses, which often flock with hypertension.
