How Safe Are Your Cycle Helmets?

Making bicycle helmets compulsory will not reduce head injuries, but
will put cyclists off, new research said. The belief that enforced
bicycle helmet laws improve health remains hotly contested in some
quarters. Several studies suggest that cyclists who choose to wear
helmets have fewer head injuries than non wearers, several studies
suggest.

There is no clear evidence that bicycle laws improve public health!
Senior statistician Dorothy Robinson of the University of New England,
New South Wales, Australia, argues this. After reviewing data from
countries that have legalized wearing of helmets, she believes it
suggests helmet laws discourage cycling producing no obvious response
in the number of head injuries!
