How safe are those 'Zero trans fat' labeled food for your arteries?

zero trans fat doesnt always mean zeroIf you have even wanted a suggestion from a friend of yours about artery-clogging fat-free diet, I hope she did not suggest ‘zero grams trans fat’ labeled foods.

And, if so, and have already spotted those snack foods, cookies and crackers labeled as ‘zero grams trans fat’ on the front, then there is nothing to rejoice about – rather it is worrisome for many suffering from artery clogging and being misled by such leveled staffs.
Do you know, the federal regulations allow food labels to declare being ‘zero grams of trans fat’ even if there’s less than half a gram per serving?

It may be raising your brows, but eventually, many packages contain even more than what’s considered one serving!

Just think of the risk-factor you are misled with! – as those small amounts of trans fat can actually and seriously add up.

Dr. Dariush Mozaffarian of Harvard School of Public Health said,

The problem is that often people eat a lot more than one serving. In fact, many people eat two to three servings at a time.

If you are already confused on how to find out if the product is risky for those arteries, check the list of ingredients to find if partially hydrogenated oil is included – yes, this partially hydrogenated oil is the primary source of trans fat.

So, next time you pick that food staff from the store, don’t forget to check with the list of ingredients and not depend on the labeled-claims.
