‘Green’ detox smoothie recipes

For people who avoid taking green veggies in their diet, green smoothie is a miracle drink. Add your favourite fruit to green vegetable in 60:40 and get the tasty and healthy shake. The fruit part enhances the taste of green smoothie and helps to take them easily.

Here are few ‘green’ smoothie recipes.

1. Mint smoothie

Mint is a source of niacin, phosphorus, and zinc, it contains a lot of fibres, vitamin A, C, riboflavin, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, copper, and manganese.

Ingredients

4 Banana, 2 cup water, and 2 handfuls of mint.

Procedure

Slice the banana right into the blender, add mint to it and water, blend the contents well.

Serving size: Two

2. Pear smoothie

If you want to avoid banana in the above smoothie, you can add pear. Pear is a a good source of dietary fibre and contains good levels of copper and vitamin C. Antioxidant present pears protects against age related degeneration of muscles.

Ingredients

Two ripe pears (core removed), 1 Cup pineapple, Spinach, 1-2 tbs hemp seeds, 1½ cups water.

Procedure

Pour water into the blender, place pear on the bottom and rest of the ingredients on top. Blend it for 10-20 seconds.

Serving size: Two

3. Plum vegetable smoothie

Plums contain Vitamin A, B2, and C. Plums are also rich in Potassium and fibers. Phytonutrients and antioxidants are also present in plums.

Ingredients

2 plums, ½ mango, 1 whole carrot, 2 cups fresh spinach, ½ cup water

Procedure

Cut the plums remove the pits, and put them in the blender, add other ingredients and blend it for 30-40 seconds.

Serving size: Two

4. Cantaloupe smoothie

Cantaloupes are rich source of Vitamin A and C. And also conatain good levels of Vitamin B and K. They are great source of Copper and Potassium, Magnesium, Iron, phosphorus, zinc and manganese. They are antioxidant rich.

Ingredients

½ cantaloupe, 1 cup vanilla fat-free yogurt, 1 cup skim milk , 2 tbs sugar and 1 cup crushed ice.

Procedure

Combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend it for 30 seconds.

Serving size: Two

5. Banana cherry smoothie

It’s a refreshing health drink very much suitable for breakfast.

Ingredients

1 cup sweet cherries (pitted), 1 medium banana, ½ lemon juce, ½ cup low fat plain yogurt, 6 ice cubes.

Procedure

Place all the ingredients in the blender and blend it for 30 seconds.
