On the other hand, as we grow older, we get drained out of our energy. We get too tired, too fast. One reason is the stress caused by our mind which is continuously oscillating between the past and future stealing away the present. But it’s never too late. There are a number ways to reduce stress and live a healthy and a more fulfilling life.

Exercise is the best stress buster

It has been proved time and again that exercise is one of the best and most effective ways to fight stress and rejuvenate you. Exercise not only brings remarkable changes on your body but also improves metabolism, recharges your mind, improves mental fitness and reduces stress. Physical activity and exercise produces Endorphins, which are natural chemicals in the brain that act as painkillers reducing stress. There are a number of studies proving that regular exercise stabilizes and elevates mood, stimulates anti-anxiety effects reducing tension.

We become what we eat

healthy diet

Watch the food that you eat. A healthy diet keeps both the body and mind active and promotes complete wellbeing. Eating a lot of junk and oily food has a negative impact on the mind, and makes one lethargic. It not only makes one fat and increases chances of chronic diseases, but also makes one more prone to stress. Include a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables and see the positive effect on your mind.

Studies show that people who do not have a protein rich breakfast are more prone to be depressed, stressed and less physically fit, compared to those who eat a lot of dairy products, fish, meat and beans which are rich in proteins. Citrus fruits are rich in Vitamin C, which are necessary for a healthy adrenal system and prevents fatigue and physical stress. Drinking a lot of water and including a lot of fluids in your daily routines will flush out all the toxins from the body increasing the life force energy.

Sleep well

Sleep is another important factor that plays a very crucial role in achieving good health. Too much and too little sleep both cause lethargy and makes us dull and less productive. A number of research show that a minimum of 6-8 hours of sound sleep is required by an adult to maintain good health. Less than 6 hours of sleep amounts to increased stress and increased weight, both make us less active and causing fatigue too fast.

If you are waking up and feeling dull and tired instead of being refreshed, this clearly means that you are not sleeping well. Some tips that help in good sleep are to sleep and wake up at the same time. A fixed schedule will make you more refreshed and energized in the mornings than if you sleep the same number of hours at different times. Do not watch television or use the internet while in bed waiting to fall asleep and make sure that the room is dark.

There is a lot that can be achieved by making small changes in our daily routine and our lifestyle in terms of achieving good health and being more active, productive and to experience a holistic well-being. All it takes is willingness and persuasion!
