Flavonoid rich chocolate proven to ward-off skin cancer

A research by Wilhelm Stahl of Heinrich-Heine University in Dusseldorf has shown that gulping down dark chocolate rich in cocoa and flavonoids can reduce the risk of skin cancer in women. The research has proven results where women who were given high-flavonoid cocoa drinks had 15 percent less sun damage from UV light after 6 weeks of cocoa consumption and 25 percent less after 12 weeks of the trial. Facts provide that drinking flavonoids are anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic, as they absorb UV light and increase blood circulation to the skin thereby reducing reddening caused by the UV rays.

Well, as only Mars delivers the dark chocolate diet rich in flavonoids with a few 100 calories, the confectionary industry can make a switchover to provide the consumers with natural cocoa, which is naturally rich in flavonoid.
