Don't eat raw or undercooked sprouts: says Health Canada

Don’t eat raw or undercooked sprouts. This is the warning that has been delivered by health Canada, especially to the elderly and those with weakened immune systems. Giving out a reason behind such warning officials said that sprouts, including mung bean and alfalfa sprouts might carry bacteria, including salmonella and E. coli O157:H7, which may lead to high blood pressure, kidney damage, chronic diarrhea, allergies and even death. Therefore, buyers should give priority to purchasing only crisp sprouts that are refrigerated.

In this series, Health Canada has also directed shoppers for using tongs or gloves while bagging the sprouts. Moreover, they have been advised to make sure that sprouts are fully cooked.

In this point of time, this warning is quite crucial since we all know that in the recent months how badly the wrath of E.coli spread had obfuscated people in many parts of the world.
