CYP2A6 gene linked to smoking!

Do you know smoking heavily or lightly depends on a gene called CYP2A6? Japanese researchers have uncovered this fact after examining this gene among 300 smokers. The study reveals that those with a highly active type of gene CYP2A6 are comparatively more addicted to nicotine. This study further reveals that the percent of heavy smoker was 40 percent lower among those who were with less active CYP2A6 gene.

Personally, I believe that this study points to a bright future for those who really wish to give up smoking because detection of this gene raises chances that researchers may come up with a better solution to curb smoking habit by targeting this gene.
