Constipation can develop due to several reasons. The best way to treat constipation is to start following Constipation Diet. Medication must only be considered if the condition gets extremely worse. Constipation has a lot to do with the foods we eat. Constipation Diet allows the dieters to eat correct foods and ignore the foods which can worsen the condition.

Importance of Fiber in Constipation Diet

People eating from a diet which is rich in fiber are less likely to have constipation. Fiber rich foods include fresh vegetables and fruits. On the other hand, low fiber diet leads the dieter to constipation.

Here is a list of the foods which are low in fiber and tend to become a cause for constipation development.

  • Yogurt
  • Milk
  • Cooked carrots
  • White rice
  • Fried foods
  • Bananas
  • Ice cream
  • Cheese
  • French fries
  • Processed foods

Your body must receive 20 to 30g of fiber daily. While following Constipation Diet, you must avoid eating the above mentioned foods. You may eat them in low quantity and less often. Processed and refined foods contain fiber in extremely low volume which is why they must be avoided till the time you don’t recover from constipation.

Foods to Include in Constipation Diet

  • Raisins
  • Raw veggies
  • Popcorn
  • Figs
  • Beans
  • Prunes
  • Fiber wafers

Liquids are Essential – It is important for the dieters to drink a lot of water daily. Large intestine seems to dry quickly while the immune system digests the food. You must drink plenty of water in order to keep the large intestine wet so that food can pass without any problem.

You may opt for inclusion of fresh juice of fruits and vegetables. Avoid drinking caffeine containing liquids such as tea and coffee. Alcohol intake must also be reduced when following Constipation Diet.
