Bird flu weakens in Asia, really?

Bird flu had hit Southeast Asia hard where it claimed its first and most copious victims. Now things appear to be improving in the region. Thailand and Vietnam have shown much success in containing the dreaded virus H5N1. Vietnam had almost half of the human case all around the world. But now, no single human case or poultry out break has been registered so far this year.

Thailand and Indonesia also has not had a human case this year. China is successfully going to the same way. However it has reported 8 human cases last year and 10 this year.

But the experts say that Bird Flu can still come back because of illegal chicks’ trade, tropical pets and from migratory birds.

At the same time, the weakening of the spread of the disease in this region has shown the evidence of the success of hard line procedures. Killing infected chickens, vaccinating, caring the birds and make farmers aware of the virus worked well in the developing countries.
