Bird Flu: Indian Poultry Import Banned

In the wake of outbreak of the deadly bird flu in Maharashtra, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and some Gulf countries Monday banned the import of poultry and its products from India. With India to prevent the smuggling of live birds or poultry products, Bangladesh has stepped up vigilance at its borders.

Pakistan has banned poultry imports from India, Iran and France in view of reports of detection of cases of bird flu in these countries, foreign office spokesperson, Tasnim Aslam said.

After this bird flu report in Maharashtra, Sri Lanka also has included India into its growing list of banned imports of poultry meat and all its by-products.
