Azilect: the new drug for Parkinson's disease

Azilect, a new drug for Parkinson’s patients is now approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Its other name is Rasagiline . Azilect helps to obstruct the breakdown of dopamine which is responsible for the muscle movement and coordination problems in patients.

It can be used as preliminary single drug therapy for early stage of Parkinson’s. In more advanced patients, it can be given as an addition to levodopa. Azilect, manufacturer by Teva Pharmaceutical Industries of Israel, can also be helpful to treat hallucinations and low blood pressure.
