Asthma Series II – Causes of asthma

What if someone gets hold of your neck? The first thing that will happen to you is that you will to be able to breathe. Similar is the case when we breathe in air and certain particles to which we are allergic enter our bronchial tubes through trachea. These allergens block our airways and the immune system fights with this invader by the secretion of mucus. Presence of mucus further narrows our airways leading to asthma attacks or wheezing.
Thanks George, for finding out all the allergens for us. Allergens can be “dust mites, mold, pollen, animal dander or cockroach debris, certain viral infections, wood smoke and tobacco smoke”. While this is extrinsic asthma, intrinsic asthma can be hereditary or exercise induced.
If you feel puckish after coming in contact with any of the mentioned allergens, do not forget to meet your doctor.
