Antioxidants don't shield male smokers' heart

A Finnish study reveals that vitamin E or beta-carotene supplements do not protect male smokers against heart disease. The antioxidants may harm instead of protecting the heart. The report published in European Journal. The experiment showed that vitamin E supplementation had no momentous impact during the post-trial period.

On the other hand, Beta-carotene supplementation augmented the risk for major coronary problems by fourteen percent. The researchers say that the data on the effects of vitamin E and beta-carotene disagree against the use for deterrence of coronary heart disease by male smokers.
