Alzheimer, due to lack of oxygen?

Studies conducted earlier have shown that factors like diabetes, stroke, clogged arteries and aging add to the chances of Alzheimer. But according to a new study, lack of oxygen may also turn out as a main culprit.

This conclusion peeped out of the study after doing some experiments on lab mice. These mice were provided with 40% less oxygen daily for about 16 hours and this procedure went on for about one month. After six months, these oxygen-deprived mice developed beta-amyloid plaque. This plaque push brain cells to die that ultimately lead to Alzheimer.

On the basis of this new finding, it would not be wrong to say that inhaling more and more oxygen may keep Alzheimer away. For that, using drug, vasodilators may also prove beneficial because it is known to increase the flow of oxygenated blood to the brain.
