Adiana: Latest device used contraception

The ladies who are looking for an easy and less time consuming contraception procedure should read this one. A new contraception method has been developed by Hologic Inc. of Bedford, Massachusetts. The method only takes about 15 minutes of your time. Although, the method is still not appealing to the FDA or the food and drug administration.

The new procedure is supposed to be pretty easy. But, the FDA claims that it is not full proof. Here’s how the entire thing works. Radio signals are used to create a lesion in the fallopian tube. Then, a catheter is used to deliver a smaller material than the grain of rice into the tube. A Healthy tissue then develops around this material and creates a permanent blockage.

The particular device that is used for this procedure is known as Adiana. The company that created this device thinks that the procedure is low risk, even though the FDA believes otherwise. Here’s some stats. During the 15 months of the procedures, pregnancies occurred in 11 cases. Five of those occurred while women were told to rely on birth control. Six resulted from relying on Adiana.

So, I guess people are still not quite sure about this procedure. There is still much debate going on about the procedure. The FDA finally approved the device on six conditions. No pricing information has been set yet by the manufacturer.
