May be that you were quite successful in hiding from your doctor about your smoking habit so far. Well, it won’t go for long now because doctors would soon be using a device that would tell even if you hide.
The device – pulse cooximeter – is normally used to measure carbon monoxide level in firefighters. However, the latest findings have shown that it could well be used to find out whether a person smokes or not. In fact, it would be a significant way to detect a smoker. In the words of Dr. Reddy:
There is no good way to screen people for smoking (than this new one)
Another thing making the new method more attractive is its easy-to-use feature that just includes placing a clip-like device on a fingertip. Whereas currently used methods (that include breath, blood or saliva samples) are a bit ostentatious.
This new device would really be a significant tool in the hands of doctors to know whether the patient is telling a lie or not.
