6 Skinny Burger Recipes

The dieting audience who target weight loss often misinterpret the process with starving. In order to shed those extra pounds, it would be a no-brainer to abandon eating as a whole as it not only slows down the body’s metabolism to break down fats but also hinders in the appropriate absorption of nutrients necessary for the body. Therefore, eat healthy to lose the unwanted weight while maintaining a good health.

Here are six healthy burgers to show you how to do it just right.

1. Vegan Chickpea Burger

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cup soaked chickpeas
  • 4 tbsp roasted and ground flaxseeds
  • 1 finely chopped medium onion
  • 1 cup chopped spinach
  • 1 cup crisp bread crumbs, preferably whole grains
  • ½ cup finely chopped cilantro or basil
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ cup of water
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Procedure

  • Prepare a mix from grounded flaxseeds and water.
  • Blend the soaked chickpeas in the blender until slightly coarse and adjust the salt-pepper seasoning.
  • Mix the blended chickpeas with onions, herbs and some lemon zest.
  • Add the bread crumbs to the mix and let it sit. Adjust dough dryness by adding some water or adding bread crumbs for adjusting moisture.
  • Make an inch thick patties and grill them for 7-8 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Assemble the burger with onion, tomato slices and patty with whole wheat bread slices.

2. Lean Beef Burger with Flaxseed punch

Ingredients

  • 1 lb extra lean ground beef
  • 4 tbsp roasted and ground flaxseeds
  • ¼ cup skimmed milk
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Baby spinach leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Whole wheat bread

Procedure

  • In a bowl, mix the beef with flaxseeds and milk and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Form four patties an inch thick and cook them on a griddle for 3-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Assemble the burger with baby spinach leaves, tomato slices and patty in between whole wheat bread slices.

3. Cherry Beef Burger

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces extra lean ground beef
  • ½ cup dried cherries
  • ½ cup crisp bread crumbs
  • 1 small red onion sliced
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard sauce
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 4 tbsp cherry sauce
  • 4 ice cold lettuce leaves
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Whole wheat bread

Procedure

  • In a bowl, mix the beef with cherries, seasoning and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Add the mustard sauce with vinegar, garlic and breadcrumbs.
  • Form four patties, each half-inch thick and grill them for 5-6 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Assemble the burger with sliced onions, lettuce leaves and patties with cherry sauce between whole wheat bread slices.

4. Mushroom Burger with Lean Beef

Ingredients

  • 1 lb extra lean ground beef
  • 2 cups chopped mushrooms, any kind
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 lettuce leaves, ice cold
  • Whole wheat bread

Procedure

  • Sauté the mushrooms in 1 tbsp olive oil for 3 minutes or until tender.
  • In a bowl, mix the beef with mushrooms and adjust seasoning.
  • Form four patties an inch thick and cook them on a griddle for 3-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Assemble the burger with lettuce leaves with optional capsicum slices and patties between whole wheat bread slices.

5. Salmon Burger

Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets, deboned and chopped into chunks
  • 1 inch grated ginger
  • 1 cup chopped coriander
  • 2 tbsp Thai red curry
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp vegetable sauce
  • ½ cucumber sliced
  • 1 medium onion sliced
  • Salt for seasoning
  • Whole wheat bread

Procedure

  • In a bowl, mix the salmon with coriander, Thai paste, soy sauce and ginger
  • Blend the mix into a coarse paste.
  • Form four patties, each an inch thick and cook them on a griddle for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Assemble the burger with sliced onions and cucumber in between the whole wheat bread slices.

6. Turkey Burger

Ingredients

  • 1 lb extra lean ground turkey
  • 1 inch grated ginger
  • 3 small finely chopped zucchinis
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp vegetable sauce
  • 1 egg yolk
  • Salt and pepper for seasoning
  • 1 sliced tomato
  • 4 lettuce leaves, ice cold
  • Whole wheat bread

Procedure

  • In a bowl, mix the turkey with ginger, soy sauce, zucchini, egg yolk and adjust seasoning.
  • Form four patties, each an inch thick and cook them on the oiled griddle for 6-7 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Assemble the burger with sliced onions and tomatoes with lettuce leaves in between the whole wheat bread slices.
