We live in a world that keeps surprising us. We are so used to having a secondary function in a device that is probably as good as the real thing. For example, each one of us uses a smart phone today, but we don’t just use it as a phone. The smartphone works as a camera, day planner, and internet connectivity device, gaming device, and hundreds other uses you could think of. Everything has more functions, and creativity can go beyond boundaries.
Racing with technology
Every one of us has spent a lot of time racing in our imaginary world thanks to car racing games. Gran Turismo is a common name in the industry and the series has in fact created driving simulator that is so realistic that actual racers use it to train for races. It is looked as such an advantage that certain amateur racing events have banned simulators. The next time you find your friend using Gran Turismo on his computer, he might just be practising for an actual race.
Music on the PS1
Feel the PlayStation 1 is a thing of the past? Think again. The CD player on the PlayStation1 is said to be so good that many music lovers around the world hunt for this. It is touted to be even better than the exclusive music playing equipment designed by Sony. Plus, the PS1 is a much cheaper option when you are looking for a CD player.
Controlled by the Xbox
Why spend millions to create a controller for a drone when Xbox has done it already? Military forces are using Xbox controllers for a while because of their ease of use. This was spotted in a British recruitment video and while the military denied it, it is obvious that it was used.
Microsoft Kinect
This has to be one of the most attractive products in the list. The device does cover only a short distance, but its 3D Mapping is excellent. It is easily portable and can be used extensively in other purposes as well. As an example, Archeologists today are using the device extensively as a LIDAR device – even though it does not have the rugged nature.
‘Smarter’ Phones
This should surprise no one. You can use your smart phone to access the internet, use it as a modem for another device and even have it used as a games console. The only direction smartphones are moving in is forward, and they are making great strides.
Wikipedia
Need information? Head to Wikipedia. There is nothing as efficient online. It is shown that Wikipedia is more accurate than encyclopaedias today – now, that is a statement.
PlayStation 3
Not to be far behind, the PS3 can be used as a makeshift supercomputer that can actually do work better than equipment that costs thousands of dollars? Bet that wasn’t on your mind when you were using it!
