High points:
The Sony BDP S580 has many things in favor of it. The look of the player is simple and sleek. It can play 3D movies while there are very few such Blu-ray players who can play a 3D BLU-ray disc. The image quality of Blu-ray and DVD discs are of superior quality. As mentioned earlier, it has immense facility to download almost anything from internet and can share any sort of recorded file from any camcorders. Even files from HD camcorders also can be shared via HDMI. This facility can bring joy to the family of the user as he can view private fun and happy moments recorded on camcorder.
Low points:
The player can play 3D movies but the user has to have a 3D TV to get the 3D experience. Moreover, some original copy protected disc will have less than superior output. Some reviewer in the internet has told that the loading time of disc in this player is a bit longer in comparison to other players. However, after loading is completed, the output is outstanding. Another draw back with Sony technology is that these players do not have âregion freeâ capability which can play any disc, particularly DVD disc of any specific region (each DVD disc has a specified region code written at the back-cover whereas 30 percent of BLU-ray discs from major studios like 20th Century Fox and MGM are region specified).

After introduction, Sony has given a rebate of $40 on the product. Therefore the new price tag is US $160.
