The OLED technology used in it has the advantage of giving extremely fast response time (0.01 millisecond) and very silky, life-like video of the speedy moving imagery needed for gaming and watching sports.

Tim Hanlon and Kate Seamer of Gizmag, who tested this product, had mixed opinion about the product. ‘The video is crisp and of high quality but the goggles are heavy’-Kate said and Tim opined that Sony’s choice of demo footage, which is a demo cap with insufficient depth, is actually bizarre. He also said that he was not sure that what basic idea of Sony was for this.

Accessories

The HMZ-T1 personal 3D viewer has a head-mounted personal 3-D TV, which was displayed at the consumer electronics show in the January at Las Vegas. To add to it, it has the two tiny 0.7 inch OLED screen (one each for both of your eyes) and two headphones to give into your ears 5.1 surround sound.

The upside

This personal 3D viewer is sharp without ghost images. The quality of the image is high contrast. The virtual surround sound is outstanding. You look like a Geordi straight from Star-trek.

The downside

Your Geordi look from Star-trek may not exactly fit your appearance. This product is not light in weight. The handset is tethered to a processor. The light creep spoils the illusion and viewing. It is very expensive.

Our experience

As we have found, it is a bulky affair to fit these goggles (read personal 3D viewers) on everyone’s eyes. Well, it is a little troublesome. When the visor extends in front of your face, we find this product of Sony to be a little unwieldy. Once you wear this HMZ-T1 perfectly on your head, you find the picture and sound quality of it to be amazingly good. The images have great solidity and rich in color. The compact headphones in it give excellent quality of sound.

The bottom-line

Due to its high cost, this may not be the future of the home viewing. There is also nothing mentioned about the after-sales-service. But definitely, it is one of the best products designed by Sony.
