The challenge
Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 is the first ever competitor of Apple iPod Touch made available in the market. It is studded with Google’s android OS which is able to play over 250,000 android apps. This special feature makes it capable enough to have a healthy competition with the Apple iPod Touch. Both the devices provide almost similar features with a slight difference in the buying price. These gadgets generally come under media player devices. There are also quite a difference in looks and size. When these two devices were compared minutely, it was found that the Galaxy Player 4.0 does have some more features and attractive usability factors in a comparative less price though both work on the principle of android.
1. Screen Size
The screen sizes in both the gadgets do not have a huge difference, but even an inch of difference makes a huge impact on the display it has to offer. Samsung Galaxy Player has a wide display screen of 4-inch wide S-LCD WVGA with 800*400 pixel resolution. Whereas, the Apple iPod Touch gives a diagonal multi-touch widescreen display with 3.5 inch width. It has a resolution of 480*320 pixels which is comparatively less than that of the Samsung Galaxy has. That makes Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 superior than the iPod Touch when an argument arises for the bet display feature between these two.

2. Software
Apple iPod can be summed up more as a gaming device than being a media player as it does not provide every feature needed by a device to prove it as a media player. Whereas, the Samsung Galaxy Player provides more usable software and features to prove itself as a strong contender against iPod in the market. Wi- Fi, Camera with HD recording, Live Apps are the common features in both the gadgets but if both are compared to find the better media player, i Pod of course fails due to its lacking features to become a complete media player. Instead it can be concluded as a better gaming device. However, Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 works on android 2.2 and the apple iPod Touch works on iOS 4.2.
When camera is considered in both the devices, it could be found that there is a 3.5 megapixel rear camera in Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 where iPod touch has a 0.7 megapixel rear camera. Samsung support expandable memory to accommodate a micro SD cards starting from 8GB up to 32 GB but iPod does not have the feature for memory expansion. The most important feature in a media player is flash player support which can be found in Samsung Galaxy Player. Apple i Pod does not provide a flash support which makes it lag behind the Samsung Galaxy Player. The Apple iPod does have more and better apps for gaming. So, it can be a better gaming device.

3. Price
Samsung Galaxy Player costs something about $229 and the Apple iPod Touch can be fetched by paying a whooping $269. It should be a matter of concern as iPod provides less features than Samsung but its cost are high enough to be afforded.

4. Camera
Apple iPod provides a dual camera. But the rear camera is of 0.7 megapixels which has no comparison with Samsung’s 3.2 megapixel rear camera. So, it would be wise to consider the Samsung Galaxy as a better device when it comes to camera features.

5. Target Audience
These gadgets are designed and manufactured keeping the new generation in mind. These are also called as 4th generation devices as these are the bettered versions of previous ones. These gadgets are the results of the effort to better the smart phones. These are the outcomes of a step ahead of the smart phones. These are most popular among the business persons who travel frequently. Young generation with an inquisitive mind and attitude to become a tech savvy, also adore these products. They want to buy and use every possible versions and designs as it also represents a style statement among the young mass.

Analysis and Comparison of each and every feature of the two gadgets do suggest, the usability of the Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 is better and reliable in all respects and with a lesser price than that of the Apple iPod Touch.
