The brainchild of designer Brandon Liew, the Gula Headphones Concept draws from the current revival of the â60âs style. Popularly known as retro, the era is defined by bright, peppy colors and rounded angles and shapes. The Gula headphone concept primarily targets the urban youth with the premise of being a hip oversized companion to their portable music players or cellphones.
The word Gula in translation means sugar, or candy, or even yellow if youâre Swedish, which reflect the multicultural nature of the concept that charms with its simple curves, bold ear pads and banded design. By creating a character unique to the design, the headphones concept looks to create a distinct brand identity for itself in the market quite like the Sony Walkman did for portable music players.
The design language of the headphones is carefully carved to highlight it vivacious youthfulness. By effortlessly mix together the functionality of a high-fidelity headset with the brandsâ identity, the concept itself reflects the originality and style of the buyers. The vibrant styling of the headset also allows it to be paired with modern retro couture more effortlessly which is essential for a product that looks for its target consumers to be urban 20-somethings.
