OnBeat Xtreme fails to impress upon the speakerphone mode for iPhone users. There’s a built in microphone unit and the Siri/Voice Control triggering telephone button, but according to the callers, they didn’t sound that good through this unit. The Xtreme’s mic makes a nearby caller audible but not the far off. OnBeat Xtreme is not the immediately reliable speakerphone that can be suggested to use. Although, this is one of the best sounding speakers released for Apple’s devices. Had it been released earlier it would have given a challenge to the Best of the Year Award that was won by Bowers & WIlkins’ Zeppelin Air which just lacks in the AirPlay compatibility. A little fine-tuning affects the Speakerphone’s performance. This is satisfied well by the sequel to this product; OnBeat Xtreme which is as mentioned before, sharp-looking, fun to use all-in-one and great-sounding audio system worthy of good recommendation.

Things to watch out for

The Xtreme’s mic doesn’t seem to adjust its gain properly in order to accommodate discussions taking place at the longer distances. Audibility is good when near but worst when far. That’s a great drawback for the Xtereme. JBL would perform better if the EQ settings are made navigable and hence more powerful by the use of the free OnBeat application. The OnBeat app is similar to the iOS Music application and adds clock functionality and setup directions for a different OnBeat system i.e. OnBeat Air rather than OnBeat Xtreme. But the analog clock functionality is very offbeat and one must watch out for the software needs to be a bit more fully functioned.

Verdict

The OnBeat Xtreme besides a few of its drawbacks is one of the best sounding speakers specifically for Apple’s devices. Also, it is one of the most widely compatible docks. There is powerful sound and versatility offered, being it regardless of whether you’re up to dock or stream audio. The size is reasonable enough along with being stylish and capable of fitting in. OnBeat Xtreme is undoubtedly a sharp-looking and great-sounding device. It is hence worthy of every recommendation on every basis.

All in all besides the few disadvantages, the OnBeat Xtreme is a premium-priced docking and wireless audio system. It comes with stylish curves and powerful speakers. This JBL’s product costs $500 only. Hence, this device is an elegant all-in-one audio system for iPad, iPhone, or iPod use and worth buying at a reasonably marked price. Thus, the price satisfaction and the product satisfaction go hand in hand for the OnBeat Xtreme.
