10 Cool things that make iPod Touch the best

With the iPhone series coming in the markets, is the iPod losing its value? Well, as of yet, there doesn’t seem to be any music player which could be more cooler than the apple iPod touch. In this article, we try to cover some essential features of the iPod touch that are a must know and make it stand apart from any other iPod or any other music player in that matter!

1. Body

The iPod Touch flaunts a stunningly slim body which is beyond attractive as compared to the classic models and the iPhone. With a polished and shiny metallic backside, the iPod Touch is less fragile than it feels. The smooth touchscreen interface also gives you that smooth yet high tech experience. The body is scratch resistant and that gives you a pass to handle with little care.

2. Battery

The iPod Touch fails to stand by Apple’s assurance of 5 hour battery backup. When the Wi-Fi is completely switched off, the battery backup given by the iPod touch is of maximum 4 hours and 30 minutes (with continuous video playback). Although, when this is compared to the similar cases of iPod classic, it is way less.

3. Wi-Fi iTunes

The Apple iPod Touch offers a whole new interface where you can download your favorite music from the Apples iTunes store. All you need to do is connect to your wireless network and your iPod automatically tracks down your iTunes data to the directory and eases down your access as well as the purchase.

4. Applications with Tweaks

The iPod Touch incorporates various software versions (starting from the 1.1), which facilitate several applications that only enhances the user experience. Almost all applications that one can find on the iPhone can be used with the iPod touch. There is very little to complain with such a vast segment of applications available for one to download. From navigation to games to utility applications, the iPod Touch gives you all of it.

5. Better Accessory compatibility

Unlike the Apple iPhone and the iPod classic, the iPod touch has a better capability to synchronize with the accessories that may be available. For instance, it offers a hassle free car charging unlike the iPod classic and iPhone. Although the iPod radio remote fails to work when used upon the iPod touch (much like the case of iPhone).

6. Sound Quality

The iPod touch was being speculated for having a poor sound quality. But over time, with the new models coming out, the iPod touch seems to excel in this very aspect. So much so that in a recent article i read, tech experts claimed it to beat the sound quality offered by the Microsoft’s Zune HD!

7. No disc mode

The disc mode option available to the users in the case of iPod classic is not provided by iPod touch. The simple interface allows you to store only the audio/video files and not the data files. You may, however use third party software upgrades to use that utility. This feature makes your iPod touch “mac ready” and hence adds on to user compatibility.

8. Synchronization

The touch offers an iTunes synchronization “iPod style, not iPhone style”. You are also offered a user friendly interface to manage your playlist which may consist of songs, movies, videos, T.V series, etc. Although transfers take a little longer than the iPod classic and the iPod nano.

9. Control differences

The iPod Touch has a very user friend control panel which gives an easy access to your music library and application menu. It comes with a smaller “home button” which when double clicked, takes you to the “music control menu” which again gives you a handy access to the music library.

10.Screen differences

The screen is much like the iPhone in terms of the screen resolution and the screen size yet an unusual viewing angle can impart the negative format black screen when tilted. The brightness sensor, as in the iPhone, comes as another enhanced feature with the same function, unlike in other iPods.
