Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd., the world’s leading manufacturer of crystalline silicon photovoltaic (PV) modules, has unvieled a 60 cell multi-crystalline PV module that will be marketed under the product name ‘Wd’. The new Wd module series provides positive peak power tolerance of 0/+5 watts, which will assure that all Wd modules will generate at, or outperform, the nominal power rating.
Weighing 20kg, the new 60-cell module is just perfect for homes with abundant roof space as the challenges associated with mounting a heavier 72-cell module over the rooftop can be avoided. The panel will come in two variants, where one will have a power rating of 220watts, while the other will feature 225 watts. The 60-cell Wd panel also includes the latest IP67 rated junction box with improved thermal isolation, 4mm thick glass and a 50mm aluminum frame.
The 60 cell multi-crystalline PV module is capable of withstanding high wind-pressure and snow load and to prove it is the IEC 5400Pa certification that the panel received. Suntech is marketing its panel with a 25-year power output warranty. Though, it is presently available in European and Asian markets, but Australia will have to wait for its availability till 2010.
