The Caribbean island not only gives you opportunity for hiking, biking, scuba diving and bird watching, but it also gives a chance to experience the country’s social and cultural charms.
Cuba has a lot to see and do that is green. A major fascination is the Cienaga de Zapata National Park, which is very close to the Bay of Pigs. It is the Caribbean’s largest bioreserve, 1.5 million acres of mangrove-choked canals teeming with the wildest Cuban wildlife. The park has over 900 autochthonous plant species, 354 species of birds, 31 species of reptiles and over 1000 species of invertebrates.
The government has put a restriction on vehicles, so horse-drawn buggies are a common sight. Horse-driven buggies have always fascinated me, if they excite you too, then you know where to go. The restricted use of cars and low pollution outputting machines used in factories add in making Cuba stand amongst the world leaders in low greenhouse-gas emissions.
Another tourist draw is the Boca de Guama crocodile farm that gives shelter to some about 4,300 Cuban crocodiles, also known as Rhombifers. It is interesting to see reptiles being kept in crowded concrete pens. Breeding is the top priority of the farm and began back in 1962, when these reptiles were nearing extinction. Now, about 6,000 live in the swamps around the farm, and about 300 adults are released into the wild from it each year.
There are a lot of tourist hotels and bungalows available to give you an overwhelming stay. The canals and lagoons surrounded by dense forests with eagles gliding in the sky is a breath taking view. Even more exciting is to visit the canals and lagoons in a speedboat, tasting the flavor of adventure.
