How to choose colors for your kid’s room?

Ask a child to pick his favorite color and he will answer differently each time. That’s the thing with children. They love colors and change their minds very quickly. It is just one of the processes they undergo as they grow. When you are looking forward to decorating your child’s room keep several things in mind before choosing a particular color.

  • Significance of colors – You will be surprised to discover that each color has different effects on one’s psyche. Red is vitalizing and pumps up the heart rate, thus it is perfect for the living room or the dining room. Yellow spreads joy and happiness and is good for kitchens and bathrooms. Blue and Green are calming and relaxing colors and thus great for any room in the house. Keep these things in mind when you decide on your kid’s bedroom color.
  • What is the right color? – Children change their minds really quick. At one age, girls love pink and after an age, pink is the last color they want to see in their rooms and on their walls. To avoid cost of repainting and fixing wallpaper, go for a neutral shade and ask your children to unleash their creativity on their walls. Give them space to put up their hand-made paintings and other items of creativity like murals and finger-paintings on the walls. These will liven up the walls and the rooms and the children will love you for it. Save up on all the priceless artwork and frame up a few and hang them on the walls. That way you save up on unnecessary expenditure on décor. Keep it really simple and no-fuss.
  • Furniture – Furniture should go with the rest of the room. There are many colorful options available in the market for children’s furniture. However go for pastel and nude shades like grey, black, white , etc. Children already have a lot of stuff in their room and lots of colors, so adding more colors will be just glaring and they will keep losing their stuff more often. If they insist on colors , go for easily replaceable furniture like bean bags . They are soft, fun and serve the purpose.
