Glasgow eco home brings modern design and sustainability under one roof

Owning a king-size luxurious home is a dream of many, but not all are fortunate enough to possess one. A couple’s dream recently came true, when they became proud owners of a huge house that is not only lavish but also eco-friendly. Don and Lorna McLean have built a modern style eco-home in suburban Glasgow that brings contemporary design and sustainable construction principles under one roof.

This beautiful eco-home is an innovative transformation of a dilapidated timber frame bungalow. The house was constructed using insulated concrete formwork that is responsible for making the structure more energy-efficient. The couple also made room for an air-source heat pump. These new green modifications have resulted in reducing the bills by half of what the old house used to output. The new elevated home giving a breath-taking view of the city to the south and hills to the north, is 30% bigger as compared to the earlier one. The eco-home, which took some 11 months to complete with a capital investment of £333,000 has been shortlisted for the Daily Telegraph Homebuilding & Renovating Awards this year.
