Walk or run and illuminate light. This is the idea behind the Eco-Energy Flooring System pads that harnesses energy by walking on them and uses it to light up LED lights. Conceptualized by Stephen Chan Wing Tak the system consists of piezoelectric blocks, which when squeezed upon by walking, running, rolling over generates power. The energy produced is stored on a paper battery system, which gives energy to illuminate LED lights.
The Eco-Energy Flooring System pads not only give you the freedom of easy use, but also are also affordable and portable. It is made up of 6 layers with a upper housing on the top, which is water resistant, sealed with ultra-sonic welding to prevent moisture from entering the lower levels. The layer below it has the OLED board that is programmed with letters, patterns, and all kinds of stuff and is illuminated by the power below.
The fourth layer includes sponge material that works perfectly for cushioning and distribution of force and pressure. Lying just below it is the piezoelectric board containing crystal boards to produce the energy. Just below the PCB board is the place where the Paper Battery that stores the energy resides. The last layer has the lower housing, which touches the ground.
