After witnessing Hans Godo Frabel’s unitary glass designs, the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Oakland have nowadays been transformed into a green canvas with a holiday feel by the same artist. Dubbed as ‘Frabel Glass Show with Holiday Touches’, the eco-exhibition showcases two 20-foot tall Christmas trees fitted with LED lights, and some phony clowns, fairies, frogs and lizards trying to find a shelter on them. Furthermore, eco-lovers can see a variety of poinsettia plants, the paper whites, amaryllis, and Christmas cactus.

The exhibition ends Jan.3. But before it draws to a close, it hopes to welcome more than 35,000 visitors. The visitors will sure feel elated by the ‘plants planted in a wreath frame’ i.e. a 4-foot-wide work featuring exotic bromeliads.

Especially for kids, there are two model trains passing through a mountain area that mimics the Laurel Highlands. They’ll appreciate the G-gauge LGB and Bachman model trains making way through small-scale plants. The visitors could talk to Santa Claus from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. any Saturday or Sunday since Christmas is just there round the corner.
