Sildenafil also known as Viagra that has been helping men with sexual dysfunctions round the world can also be used for treating cancer, a new study has raised this hope. Before coming up with this finding researchers studied the effect of sildenafil on lab mice and concluded that mice with colon and breast tumors reduced their tumor’s size 2 to threefold by taking sildenafil while such results didn’t appear in the mice who were not given sidenafil.
According to these researchers, sildenafil helps stop the production of nitric oxide and ultimately allows immune cells to attack cancer cells more efficiently.
This study has given way to a new hope for patients with cancer. However, the conclusions of this study are not very convincing. Therefore, researchers must go further with their study to pull out more solid evidences to prove this fact.
