Two-dose vaccine helps in chickenpox outbreak

The medical journal ‘Pediatrics’ published a report that says single dose of chickenpox vaccine is inadequate to protect children. Dr. Sandra L. Snow of the Arkansas Department of Health, with other researchers investigated the school outbreak of chickenpox.

Even the higher vaccinated areas are reported the chickenpox cases. However, many of them had shown mild symptoms with only six percent appearing sick.

The efficacy of one dose of varicella vaccine did not show ample to offer enough immunity levels. While a second dose of chickenpox, vaccine has given during an outbreak. The two-dose proposal has showed more promise to prevent the outbreak in comparison with one dose of the vaccine.
