Shampoo causes memory loss in mice

An ingredient that is found in many shampoos may cause memory loss. According to the researchers of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Diethanolamine (DEA), the ingredient, when applied to the skin of pregnant mice, the fetuses showed inhibited cell growth.

There was increased cell death in an area of the brain that is usually responsible for memory the hippocampus.

The study is published in FASEB journal that is published by The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology.
