How to Prevent Pimples

Pimple is a type of acne which erupts as a result of excess oil in your skin pores. The skin pores have sebaceous glands (tiny skin glands) that produce sebum. Over a period of time, sebum becomes a breeding place for bacteria, thus causing a rash or infection. Though, there are many over-the-counter treatments available for curing pimples, it can be prevented easily by following certain tips. Here’s what you should do to avoid the eruption of pimples on your skin. Read on.

Complexity Level: Basic

Time Required: 20 minutes a day for skin care

Resources Required:

1. Commitment to follow a routine

2. Healthy lifestyle

Instructions:

1. Keep your skin clean

  • Wash your face twice a day with mild soap and water. You can also use a mild cleanser, such as Cetaphil with luke warm water. Do not use nails to remove dirt on your face. If your skin is sensitive, try using a face wash suiting your type of skin. Pat your face dry with a soft and clean cloth. Never rub your face with the cloth to dry your face. Doing so will dry your delicate skin.
  • Use a skin moisturizer which will keep your skin soft and smooth. If you have an oily skin, you should use a water based moisturizer.
  • Before you call it a day, always wash away your make-up. Make up clogs the skin pores obstructing the normal breathing of your skin. This leads to eruption of pimples.

2. Opt for nutritious food

  • Foods loaded with spice, oil and chocolate triggers the hormones in your body to produce excess oil on your skin. Go easy on alcohol, spices such as ginger and pepper.
  • Constipation also cause pimples. Preventing constipation will be effective in controlling pimple eruptions. Eat high fibrous vegetables such as brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots and kale. These are high in cellulose and aid in digestion.

3. Get eight hours of beauty sleep

  • Your body needs 6-8 hours of restful sleep to replenish the dead cells of your skin. Your body is recharging between 10 pm and 2 am. Ensure to go to bed before 10 pm to get those beautiful eight hours of sleep.
  • To get sound sleep, avoid sugary snacks or heavy dinners just before you sleep. This may affect digestion and inhibit you from sleeping. Avoid caffeine and alcohol in the evening to sleep better.

4. Clean and change your bed linen often

The dirt and grime on your pillow case and the bed linen may cause infection on your skin. Ensure to change and clean your bed linen often.

5. Avoid stressful life

  • Stress triggers hormones to produce excess oil on your skin which will cause pimple breakouts. As much as possible, stay relaxed and avoid stress.
  • Studies have found that depression and anger are also one of the main causes for adult acne. Being positive and cheerful goes a long way in promoting good health and glowing skin.
