Prayer: The new mantra for good health

“Only prayers to the Almighty can save your loved one”, the cliched dialogue uttered quite often by a doctor in a typical, masala Bollywood movie may just be quite true. Apart from the state of art medical treatment that one may seek to remain hale and hearty, there may also be the need to say your prayers. prayer 4717

No believer will deny the power of divine intervention needed to lead a healthy and happy life and new evidence as per a recent review in print in the Medical Journal of Australia may further strengthen his belief. According to Australian researchers, prayer can have positive effects on mental as well as physical health. The research also states that 74 % of Australians were regular with their prayers owing to their belief in some form of higher power.

The role of prayer in improving mental and physical well-being has been attributed to a number of psychological effects. According to Marek Jantos, director of the Behavioural Medicine Institute in Adelaide, praying works to the advantage of an individual by instilling a positive attitude towards life in the person. An improvement in the frame of mind is also seen as a result of praying. A constructive outcome of praying on physiological health is reflected by its beneficial effect on blood pressure, heart rate and even breathing. Even the very notion of others praying for you can work to promote your well-being.
So have you said your prayers today?
