Parkinson's treatment lies in few puffs daily!

parkinsons disease and smoking 64
Who says smoking only harms your health, while the fact is that it brings for you several health benefits also; one of those benefits is its capability to prevent you against Parkinson’s disease.

A study by a University of California Los Angeles School of Public Health comes out promulgating this view.

Interestingly, this is not the first time when positive effect of tobacco smoking over degenerative nerve diseases has been uncovered, as earlier, also there were presumptions, supporting tobacco’s effect against such nerve diseases.

However, latest one is the study that shows these benefits on the ground of scientific facts, as this time experts analyzed tobacco’s preventive effect on animals. Moreover, they came up with such assumption after looking at around 11 studies done between 1960 and 2004 covering more than 11,800 people, of whom 2,816 had Parkinson’s disease. Remarking on this deep analysis study says:

Our analyses confirmed prior reports of an inverse association between cigarette smoking and Parkinson’s disease.

Still, they are far from the exact reason behind this equation but they believe that there could be two reasons behind this preventive effect. First, tobacco contains carbon monoxide, which exerts a protective effect, preventing survival of brain neurons. Secondly, may be that smoking somehow prevents the development of toxic substances, which interfere with proper neurological functioning.

After looking at growing problem of Parkinson’s disease in the light of this study, it could be stated that keeping this disease at bay is not as difficult as it is considered to be, for its treatment lies in few puffs daily!
